Vulvar

A vulvar problem can be caused by human papilloma virus or HPV. Vulva is what describes the outer genitalia. This includes the skin and hair that covers the pubic bone or labia majora (large lips), labia minora (or small lips), the urethral opening and the vaginal opening. The main purpose of the labia majora and minora is to protect the vagina. A vulvar problem can be caused by human papilloma virus or HPV.

Women most commonly complain of vulva itching, which is usually caused by chemicals from creams, douches, deodorants, spermicides, or infections. A reduced level of estrogen in the body during menopause also can cause discomfort. Treatments such as antibiotics and hormones are used for these cases.
