Vulvar Pain

Vulvar pain is not a common symptom of HPV, a virus which can be detected by a pap smear test. Vestibulitis can cause great pain. It is often triggered by intimate relations but can also occur by something as simple as tight jeans, sitting on a hard chair or riding a bicycle. It wasn’t even entered into the official physician’s diagnostic manual as a definitive disorder until 1987. Vulvar pain is not a common symptom of HPV, a virus which can be detected by a pap smear test.

The cause of this condition is not known. Neurological injury is thought to be involved or a skin condition. Women with this condition may have had recurring yeast infections or laser surgery. Some cases involve the entire vulva; other cases only involve the surrounding entry to the vagina (the vestibule). Vulvar pain is not a common symptom of HPV, a virus which can be detected by a pap smear test.
