Vulvar Biopsy

A vulvar biopsy will often involve a colposcopy and biopsy and is caused by the same virus that causes the penile wart. During this procedure, tissue is taken to diagnose cancer. The tissue is taken from the suspected area and examined under a microscope by a pathologist. The dye helps identify all the areas of abnormal skin in order to take the tissue samples from. As with other genital cancers, this has a pre-invasive phase. These changes can be detected in the skin of the vulva. HPV has been suspected in playing a great role in causing this rare cancer.
