Vulva Swelling

Vulva swelling can be a signal that infection is present and may be caused by the HPV genital wart virus or vaginosis. Pruritus vulvae is generally described as a pathologic process affecting the vulvae. A great number of women experience some very uncomfortable sensation in their genital area. It consists of irritation, itching, and burning. Sometimes, women are ashamed and reluctant to apply for a doctor’s help. This can only worsen the condition. The causes for the condition can be various: chemical irritants or medications, vaginal infection in conjunction with antibiotic use, vaginal discharge caused by other infections, menopause, as a result of decreasing levels of estrogen, certain skin conditions, etc. Vulva swelling can be a signal that infection is present and may be caused by the HPV genital wart virus or vaginosis.
