Itchy Vulva

Symptoms such as an itchy vulva, abnormal discharge, or pain may indicate an hpv virus present that may be detected with a pap smear. Itching affecting the genital area in women is called pruritus vulvae. Most women may have a slight vulval itch from time to time. However, when we speak about this condition, the itch is persistent. The itch can cause distress and discomfort, and is known to affect any woman at any age. Sometimes, it is quite difficult to determine the exact cause of the itch or rash. The doctor will need to examine the affected area. He will take swabs for microbiological examination in order to make the right diagnosis. A skin biopsy may be required to determine the exact nature of the skin condition.
