Biopsy Vulvar

With a biopsy, vulvar tissue is taken to diagnose cancer; similar to treatment of vaginal dysplasia, but not lichen sclerosis. The only way to be sure vulva cancer is present is to remove tissue from the suspected area and examine it under a microscope by a pathologist. Dye called toluidine blue may be used. This dye helps identify all the areas of abnormal skin to take the tissue samples from. With a biopsy, vulvar tissue is taken to diagnose cancer; similar to treatment of vaginal dysplasia, but not lichen sclerosis.

Vaginal Dysplasia, Lichen Sclerosis

Upon finding the abnormal areas, the doctor will inject a local anesthetic into the skin to make it numb. If the abnormal area is small the doctor will completely remove it, sewing the skin together. If the area is larger, a tiny piece of tissue is removed, not requiring stitches. With a biopsy, vulvar tissue is taken to diagnose cancer; similar to treatment of vaginal dysplasia, but not lichen sclerosis.
