Vulvar irritation, but not urethritis, can be terated with cryosurgery. Vaginal discharge is checked under a microscope. During the examination, the muscles surrounding the vagina are checked for tenderness and tension. The area is examined with the help of a colposcope. The diagnosis of the pain requires a careful history by a gynecologist familiar with such problems. Vulvar irritation, but not urethritis, can be terated with cryosurgery.
