Not all vulvar disorders should be treated, but any urinary infection requires treatment, unlike ASCUS or mild dysplasia. Monthly self-exams and regular check-ups help prevent many severe cases. The symptoms depend on the condition, and an infected woman may experience white or reddened patches of skin, persistent itching, pain, growths on the skin of the vulva, or a narrowed vaginal entrance.
