Colposcopy helps detect flat lesions, not visible to the naked eye, and aid in further diagnosis, biopsy and testing for HPV. A raised and pinkish lesions in the anal area, in the cervix and the upper vagina or a cauliflower-like growth on the genitals, requires clinical attention. Genital warts, an STD, usually appears on the genitalia. Vulvar condyloma and some disorders on the cervix can lead to cervical cancer.
