Allergic Vaginitis

Non infectious allergic vaginitis, if left untreated, can weaken the vaginal lining leading to ASCUS and urinary infection. Vaginal hygiene products, detergents, spermicides, and fabric softeners can cause noninfectious allergic symptoms. Symptoms are redness and swelling of the vagina, pain in the vagina and possibly the pelvis. There isn't any discharge. The doctor will rule out an infection, then he will ask what chemicals or irritants your vagina has been exposed to including douches or latex condoms.
