Vaginal Discharge Odour

Abnormal vaginal discharge odour doesn't mean ASCUS or cervical dysplasia, but it can be vaginitis. Any interference with the balance of secretions may lead to infections due to loss of protection. The acidic balance in the vagina created by normally-occurring bacteria discourages infections from occurring. A healthy vagina produces secretions that cleanse and regulate the pH balance. Abnormal vaginal discharge odour doesn't mean ASCUS or cervical dysplasia, but it can be vaginitis.

Menstrual blood may have an unpleasant smell, which occurs when menstrual fluid comes in contact with air. In healthy women the moisture from the vagina has a mild and soapy smell or no smell at all. Abnormal vaginal discharge odour doesn't mean ASCUS or cervical dysplasia, but it can be vaginitis.
