Abnormal vaginal discharge early pregnancy is normal and doesn't mean having a venereal wart, cervical dysplasia and other disorders. If this occurs, it is wise to notify a prenatal doctor. This can also be a sign of a miscarriage especially if there are clot-like tissues. Sometimes, there appears spotting that is not dangerous in the first trimester and usually results from blood released from the uterine wall. A normal flow should not have bad odor or cause itching and swelling of the vulva. The flow increases in amount, and should be absorbed with a pad, not tampons. Light secretions are common and usually accompanied by slight cramping in the abdomen and low back pains.
