Nongonoccocal Urethritis
Nongonoccocal urethritis is caused by non-gonorrheal infection, diagnosable with a pap smear and evident vaginal discharge.
Chlamydia trachomatis is the commonest cause of NGU accounting for 30-50% of male cases. This is an inflammation of the urethra acquired by sexual contact. Diagnosis of this infection is usually done on males with a urethral smear or with a first pass urine specimen.

This is an infection of the urethra that is caused by pathogens (germs) other than gonorrhea. Several types of germs cause NGU, the most common and serious is chlamydia, very common in both males and females. Some other causes include ureaplasma urealyticum, haemophilus vaginalis, and mycoplasma genitalius.
