Exam Pap

During a pelvic exam, Pap smear tests detect abnormalities where a leep procedure or cryotherapy may be necessary. A normal cytology is a screening tool for women who have pre-cancerous cervical changes without any symptoms. Since it is not a diagnostic tool, further evaluation is needed when atypical cells are present. This screening process aids in discovering potentially pre-cancerous changes when it can be easily treated and eliminated. During a pelvic exam, Pap smear tests detect abnormalities where a leep procedure or cryotherapy may be necessary.

LEEP Procedure, Cryotherapy

The process consists of swabbing cells from the outer cervical mucous membranes and setting them in solution to be viewed under a microscope for presence or absence of unusual cells. The characteristics of these cells determine the classification of their findings. During a pelvic exam, Pap smear tests detect abnormalities where a leep procedure or cryotherapy may be necessary.
