Pap Smear Abnormal

On a pap smear, abnormal interpretations may include cervical dysplasia caused by HPV. Only 10 out of every 100 HPV infected women will be diagnosed with dysplasia and only one of those ten women with atypical cytology findings will have cancer of the invasive type. Irregular cytology findings do not necessarily mean that a woman has or will have cancer. On a pap smear, abnormal interpretations may include cervical dysplasia caused by HPV.
