New Pap Smear

A new pap smear may have to be performed if the genital wart virus is found with a colposcopy. During Papanicolaou test, a scrape is taken from the cervix walls to be examined under a microscope by cytotechnologist, which is not always reliable as no test can be a 100% guarantee. Estimations show that about 5-25 per cent of cases with abnormal cells have not been identified. A new pap smear may have to be performed if the genital wart virus is found with a colposcopy.

Genital Wart, Colposcopy

Recently, a more reliable tool has been introduced to minimize the chance of a wrong diagnosis during Papanicolaou test. A new pap smear may have to be performed if the genital wart virus is found with a colposcopy.
