Pap Smears

Pap smears that show evidence of HPV will often be followed with a colposcopy for prevention of cervical cancer. This is a test performed on your cervix to find signs of cancer. Your doctor will take a sample of cells from your cervix with a cotton swab. This sample is then sent to a lab to be checked for abnormalities. Cells go through a change before they become cancerous.
