Pap Smear During Pregnancy

A pap smear during pregnancy is commonly performed at this time as is a vulvar exam, but cone biopsy is not recommended. This procedure is recommended for pregnant women to determine any abnormalities and manage them in due time. This procedure is considered safe and in no way can harm a fetus. Scrapes are taken from the womb and are sent to be examined under a microscope. There may appear mild spotting after the procedure has been performed, yet there is nothing to worry about. Once the baby is born, any abnormalities (if they have been revealed) can be managed.
