Abnormal Pap Smear During Pregnancy
If a woman has an abnormal pap smear during pregnancy, cryosurgery and other treatments are not applied untill delivery, but with a colposcopy the diagnosis is made.
As a rule, if a disease has been identified, a doctor will wait for the baby to be born to take steps to treat the condition. Changes in size and shape may indicate a medical problem in a pregnant woman including infections and cervical cancer.

This sample is then examined under a microscope for irregular cells. Papanicolaou test involved opening the vagina and taking a sample of cells. It is perfectly safe to perform this procedure in pregnant women, as it harms neither mother, not the baby.
