Pap Smear Cervical Cancer

One result of a pap smear, cervical cancer, may be caused by vulvar vestibulitis, further diagnosis with colposcopy is necessary. Disorders in the cervix cells may be suggestive of a serious condition that can be cured if detected early. Since the condition is hard to predict, Papanicolaou tests should be done regularly once a year starting from the age 18 throughout life. During the procedure, tissue is taken from the cervix and endocervix and is examined under a microscope for irregular cells. Abnormalities in the cells may be related to diseases other than carcinoma, yet some samples are of pre-cancerous or cancerous nature, which needs medical response.
