Pap Smear Ascus

Pap smear ASCUS should not require cryosurgery, but perhaps a colposcopy will be done. A Digene Hybrid Capture Test is particularly helpful in determining atypical cells. Defined as atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance, this term refers to the least abnormal grade which can even lead to serious conditions if left untreated. Many pathologists will grade these as normal while others will grade them as abnormal. Pap smear ASCUS should not require cryosurgery, but perhaps a colposcopy will be done.

Cryosurgery, Colposcopy

It is not unusual for cases like this to be read as normal by a different doctor. For this reason, risky surgery should be avoided until a more definitive diagnosis can be obtained with either a repeat exam or a biopsy. Sometimes, these conditions heal by themselves. Pap smear ASCUS should not require cryosurgery, but perhaps a colposcopy will be done.
