A positive Pap result may indicate a vaginal wart or HPV problem.
The basis of a cytology reading is a matter of identifying the phases of cervical cellular evolution. Discovery of non-typical cells according to number and deviation from the norm determine reported findings. Deviations early in formation are generally classified as atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS).
