Causes Of Abnormal Pap Smears

Some causes of abnormal pap smears could be a urinary infection along with the venereal wart virus. Positive test results do not always mean you have cervical cancer, as there are various factors that may influence the size and shape of the cells. Changes in these cell properties may indicate an infection or a sexually transmitted disease. Chlamydia, trich, and other infections make the cells look inflamed. Some causes of abnormal pap smears could be a urinary infection along with the venereal wart virus.

If an infection has been found, a treatment course is applied with the repeat check-up in 2-3 months. Recurrent tests are needed as the infection may hide cervical cancer. Some cells may appear atypical or precancerous with changes being less severe than when a woman has cancer.
