Pap Smear Understanding

With a pap smear, understanding the results is important when cervical dysplasia and condyloma are detected. Atypical cytology reports have some subjectivity influencing the classification of low-grade abnormalities. Some interpreters will discern the same specimen as ASCUS (atypical squamous cells of undermined significance) while others will render it normal depending upon their knowledge base. HPV in its dormant stage may be unobserved using conventional test methods. With a pap smear, understanding the results is important when cervical dysplasia and condyloma are detected.

Cervical Dysplasia, Condyloma

The complexity of interpretation with human judgment added to the diversity among methodology for diagnostic testing and classification is enormous.
