Preventing Miscarriages

There is no certain way of preventing miscarriages, although it is helpful to clear the body of any PIDs or STDs, and infections such as vaginosis or the HPV penile wart viruses. A spontaneous abortion is the loss of pregnancy, where the baby cannot survive or is born before the 20th week of pregnancy. It occurs in about 15-20 per cent of all recognized pregnancies. According to statistics, almost 80 per cent of the miscarriages occur in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Vaginosis, Penile Wart

Most of these cases start with vaginal bleeding which is initially slight and painless. This is called a threatened abortion, because the pregnancy is threatened by the bleeding. This bleeding is from the mother, and is not fetal blood. At this stage, the most useful test is an ultrasound scan.
