The occurance of a miscarriage in second trimester will not be caused by a pap smear test, but may be attributed to cervical abnormalities. Most pregnancy losses occur in the first 13 weeks, or first trimester. At 35 the chance of miscarrying rises to one in four. Most early pregnancy losses are due to genetics and cannot be prevented. The chances of delivering a healthy child after a naturally miscarrying are still high. After the third pregnancy loss, the risk to have a repeated abortion is really great. Tests should be done to determine the cause of the previous cases and use corresponding treatment.
