Repeated Miscarriages

After repeated miscarriages a woman still has a chance of giving birth to a baby; ASCUS, genital wart and other genital disorders are not connected with a miscarriage. This can cause the new baby not to develop properly, or to die after only a few weeks of the pregnancy. Most of these tend to occur at the time of fertilization. It is thought that up to 50 percent of miscarriages are due to a spontaneous genetic or structural abnormality in the baby. After repeated miscarriages a woman still has a chance of giving birth to a baby; ASCUS, genital wart and other genital disorders are not connected with a miscarriage.

Many of these cases take place before a woman even knows that she is pregnant. Most happen in the first 3 months. It occurs in about 15-20 percent of all pregnancies. This is the loss of a pregnancy before 20 weeks. Miscarriage is often called spontaneous abortion by doctors.
