Periods After Miscarriage

Periods after miscarriage usually normalise in 4-6 weeks; vulvar vestibulitis, venereal wart and other genaecological disorders of the mother don't usually influence the fetus. Also, your fertility returns before your next period, so if you feel pregnant again a pregnancy test might be useful. If they were irregular before, then it may be longer. Normally your next menstruation will come by 6 weeks or so. The bleeding should not be heavier than a period, and should not have an offensive odor. In individual patients the cause of a miscarriage is not usually found. Drinking alcohol and smoking tend to enhance the risks. The fetus is well protected by the mother’s bones and muscle. Exercising, a minor fall, or sexual intercourse does not typically cause problems.
