There are many causes for a miscarriage first trimester; if the cervix is weakened after a cone biopsy, cryosurgery or other operations, the pregnancy may end with a miscarriage. Most early pregnancy losses cannot be prevented. Sometimes a miscarriage is caused by the mother's health problems. Most of these tend to occur at the time of fertilization. It is thought that up to 50 percent of miscarriages are due to a spontaneous genetic or structural abnormality in the baby. There are many causes for a miscarriage first trimester; if the cervix is weakened after a cone biopsy, cryosurgery or other operations, the pregnancy may end with a miscarriage.

One cause might be that the baby did not implant, or bury itself, into the womb lining properly – another may be that genetic information is lost at the exact time of conception. This may happen to a variety of reasons. These cases during the early stages of pregnancy have a higher instance than in later stages.
