When second trimester miscarriages occur infections such as human papillomavirus and other stds have been linked to both first and second trimester miscarriage. Normally, a healthy woman gives birth to a child without any complications. Miscarriages may occur due to factors than cannot be controlled by a mother such as chromosomal abnormalities of the baby, infectious and somatic diseases of the mother, or other causes.
