The correlation of asbestos and mesothelioma is evident; people who work with asbestos often develop asbestosis and other disorders, of which asbestosis is less severe.
It is a very hazardous type of cancer, and so far, early detection and prevention seem to be the only effective ways of dealing with it. At early stages, when cancerous cells haven’t yet pervaded the area, an immediate surgery and chemotherapy can prevent the further development of the disease.

Unfortunately, cancers are often detected too late, when large tumors and metastases impose pressure on neighboring tissues and organs. When the disease reaches the metastatic phase, there is little chance for successful treatment, and patients usually die after about 6 months.
