There can be no symptom of asbestosis or mesothelioma in people exposured to asbestos, but in many years the disorders can progress. Asbestos-related diseases, such as fibrosis of the lungs, lung cancer, mesothelioma and bronchogenic carcinoma, take about 20 to 30 years to develop. Exposures to asbestos fibers results in the inhalation of those, which results in chronic inflammations, scarring of the lungs and increases the risk of malignancy. There can be no symptom of asbestosis or mesothelioma in people exposured to asbestos, but in many years the disorders can progress.

These diseases have long latency periods; therefore, they may be missed in early stages. Signs may include shortness of breath, fitted sleep, prompt tiredness, bad cough and chest pain. These diseases are chronic, and they progress slowly; therefore, the aforementioned conditions do not get better without treatment.
