Test For HPV

Test For HPV

A test for hpv can be ordered if a physician is suspicious of human papillomavirus infection or pathologist finds ASCUS. The genital viruses considered high-risk can cause abnormal pap smears, cancer of the uterine cervix, anus and penis. The low-risk types cause mild pap abnormalities, warts and but not associated with cancer. Many infected with the virus will never show symptoms but are still able to transmit it. A test for hpv can be ordered if a physician is suspicious of human papillomavirus infection or pathologist finds ASCUS.
