HPV Test

HPV Test

The hpv test or HPV DNA test, detects high-risk types of HPV in cell DNA even before any visible cellular changes, making cryosurgery and cone biopsy more effective treatments. If a Pap smear result is positive, human papilomavirus DNA testing is done to detect whether high-risk types of this virus are causing the problem and to determine the best method of treatment. This examination is performed on a sample of cells collected from the cervix. There exist many types of this virus; some of them cause common and genital warts, others lead to cancer. The most dangerous are the types 16, 18, 31 and 45, because they cause changes in the cells of the cervix.
