With the infection of hpv, mouth or oral HPV located warts are unusual, the more common location is genital and can be detected with a pap smear. If a person has had oral sex with an infected person, he/she may develop genital warts in the oral cavity, throat and lips, depending on the strain present, but such cases are rare. Usually genital warts are spread during genital or anal sex with an infected partner. With the infection of hpv, mouth or oral HPV located warts are unusual, the more common location is genital and can be detected with a pap smear.

Warts may develop within 3-4 months of contact or sometimes even years; in some cases they are resolved on their own, especially if the immune system of the person is strong. There exist several ways for treating genital and common warts, but there is no cure for the human papilomavirus.
