HPV Infections

Most genital hpv infections are sexual transmissions, diagnosing HPV is possible with a pap smear. The human papillomavirus is very contagious; it causes common and genital warts in men and women. These warts usually occur on the hands and soles, in the oral cavity or in the genital areas (penis, scrotum, vagina, cervix, anus). It is spread through sexual intercourse. The only way to prevent this disorder is to avoid having multiple sexual partners. Condoms do not provide effective protection. Sometimes genital warts resolve by their own, but possible if the person has a strong and healthy immune system. Smoking and poor nutrition increase the risk of getting the disease.
