HPV Human Papilloma Virus

HPV human papilloma virus may cause an ASCUS Pap smear. When warts are present the HPV infection is considered active, when the warts are gone the infection is latent in the skin cells - it may or may not be contagious at this time. The types of HPV that cause genital warts are usually spread by skin-to-skin contact. HPV human papilloma virus may cause an ASCUS Pap smear.

Not all warts are visible to the naked eye, and are termed subclinical. Little is known about subclinical HPV and how contagious it is. Some doctors think it is less contagious than the genital warts you can see. Condoms are not protection against infection. HPV human papilloma virus may cause an ASCUS Pap smear.
