One human papilloma virus infection strain is HPV 16 which causes cervical dysplasia and eventually can develop into cancer. More often than not, there are no obvious symptoms of the disease for an extended period of time. According to statistics, 73 percent of the male sexual partners of infected women also had the disease. Among people suffering with this disease, sexually active women are prevalent. This is one of the least understood infections. The risk factors for this infection include multiple sexual partners, and problems with the immune system. Some strains of the germ have been identified as the main factor in cervical cancer. It is a sexually transmitted disease.
