The Human Papilloma virus can cause vaginosis or vaginitis, vulvar vestibulistis, urethritis, lichen sclerosus, and has also been linked to spontaneous miscarriages. The virus can be present even when the pap smear is normal. A Digene test will determine if the virus is present. Seventy percent of young women, that had the virus and left it untreated, developed immunities and had a negative Human Papilloma virus test within 24 months.
