Genital warts are very contagious. The infection can be spread by skin-to-skin contact or during oral, genital, or anal sexual intercourse with an infected partner. In women, the warts may occur on the outside and inside of the vagina, on the cervix, or around the anus. In men, genital warts may appear on the tip of the penis, on the shaft of the penis, or on the scrotum.
