The problem of cervical cancer and hpv is rather acute nowadays; after the operation there can develop lichen sclerosis or reoccurences; cryosurgery is helpful only for mild stages of the disease. It usually takes many years for malignancies of the cervix to develop. Without treatment severely dysplastic cells penetrate deeper layers of the cervix and spread to other organs, causing disorders. They are unlikely to progress in women who don’t smoke or have other risk factors.
