Genital Warts HPV

Genital warts, hpv induced, may be managed using cryosurgery, however, one negative side effect may be vulvar vestibulitis. There are over 100 types of Human Papillomavirus with more than 30 of these sexually transmitted. The genital viruses considered high-risk can cause abnormal pap smears, cancer of the uterine cervix, anus and penis. Any person who is sexually active is at risk for the genital Human Papillomavirus infection. Having an annual pap smear that can provide early detection of the virus can reduce the risk of cancer. The genital viruses are only transmitted through sexual contact or skin to skin. Often there are no symptoms. Most sexually active people have one or more strains of the virus.
