HPV In Women
The diagnosis of hpv in women could lead to an ASCUS reading on a pap smear, meaning a genital wart virus, or condyloma, is present on the cervix.
There are over 90 strains of the Human Papilloma virus studied. Not all these strains cause genital warts. Infected people do not always have visible signs of the infection. Limiting the number of sexual partners tends to decrease the risk of exposure to the virus. Condoms offer no protection as it is impossible to cover all infected areas.
