Oral Herpes Treatment

There is no oral herpes treatment, as with a venereal wart, verruca and other viral disorders. Though the labial infection prevents normal eating and drinking, it is recommended to consume liquids to avoid dehydration. Antibacterial soap may also help when fighting the lesions. Acyclovir and its derivatives may help to reduce pain and help to prevent the infection spread. In severe cases, antiviral medications are advised. Usually, the outbreak stops in a week or two. The condition may also lead to other complications especially in older and immunosuppressed people. Oral-labial infection is characterized by feverblisters inside the mouth and can be dangerous if the lesions appear in areas close to eyes.
