Herpes Viruses

The herpes viruses are not of the same strains as the venereal wart viruses, herpes is of a seperate virus family. There are two types of the virus called HSV. The first type of the virus, HSV-1 is a common cause of cold sores or labial infections that are characterized by sores on the mouth and lips. HSV-2 leads to blisters on the genitals that resemble those on the face. The herpes viruses are not of the same strains as the venereal wart viruses, herpes is of a seperate virus family.

HSV-1 can also cause genital infection and visa versa, yet it is rare. The virus is spread through mucous membranes such as saliva and secretions produced during intercourse. Any close contact with affected areas during an outbreak is also a way of getting infected.
