Genital Herpes Transmission
Genital herpes transmission is the same as HPV, but isn’t detectable with a pap smear used for venereal wart viruses.
HSV-1 and HSV-2 reside in the lesions they cause, thus infection is contracted through direct contact, however, it sheds between episodes from skin that does not appear to be broken or to have a sore and may be transmitted then. This shedding is commonly referred to as “silent outbreak”. In other words, HSV can be transmitted even when there are no visible symptoms or lesions.
