The genital herpes pregnancy risks are more serious than HPV viruses that also can cause penile wart and verruca. HSV neonatal risk is comparatively small compared to other pregnancy risks as demonstrated by its low rate in spite of the high prevalence. Women who acquire the infection before conception are less likely to transmit this infection to their fetus than those who acquire the disease late in neonatal development.
