Contract Genital Herpes

The common way to contract genital herpes is sexual transmission, with no cure available although cryosurgery is possible for treating the HPV genital wart viruses. Infections are increasing alarmingly in those less than 25 particularly teenagers. Also neonatal infection is a small risk with a tragic outcome, when mothers are HSV active during later pregnancy. Women carry significantly more risk (one in four) compared to men (one in five) since male-to-female transmission appears more efficient.
