Human papilloma virus is considered to be the main cause for this disorder, but the lesions removal does not mean cure of HPV, for which there is no treatment found yet. Lesions are usually painless and don't lead to complications.

Management of this condition should always begin with doctor's consultation and Pap smear tests. Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen is very effective, Podophylin and TCA are also recommended, though some experts advise against their use. To prevent the disease avoid multiple sexual partners.
