The common wart, plantar wart, and flat wart are all of the HPV family, as is the more serious HPV genital viruses including the verruca venereal wart. The condition results when a virus called human papilloma virus enters the skin of the foot through small breaks and cuts. There appears a growth or a cluster of growths that can be rather painful and feel like you have a stone in the foot. The common wart, plantar wart, and flat wart are all of the HPV family, as is the more serious HPV genital viruses including the verruca venereal wart.

Since the virus lives in warm moist environments, it is often acquired after using public places such as locker rooms and showers. It is recommended to wear thongs to reduce the risk of getting infected. Treatment includes medicines or a surgery.
